Launch of Helsinki High Rise Design Competition
Helsinki invites the world to join their high rise transformation
On December 3rd, World Cities Network will be in Helsinki to support the launch of an ambitious design and development competition to transform Pasila into a high rise hub. Architects, designers, developers, and investors from around the world will be gathering to hear first hand about the plans and will be invited to help the city shape the future of this development.
Strong international interest
The Helsinki High Rise initiative will see Pasila transformed into a high-quality residential, office and business district comprising 150,000 - 200,000 square metres of floor area. Pasila is the busiest public transportation intersection in the Helsinki metropolitan area - an excellent location to develop a new urban core for Helsinki. In the future, some 900 trains, more than 80,000 train passengers, and 40,000 bus and tram passengers will pass through Pasila daily.
Bids to design and develop the sites will be invited later in 2015 once this initial engagement with interested parties has helped the city to shape the plans.
As well as strong local interest, companies will attend the launch seminar from across the globe. We will be reporting from the event via twitter and soon afterwards on the Knowledge Hub.
