Design challenges in Helsinki

Hannu Penttilä, Deputy Mayor of the City of Helsinki, explains the opportunities for using design to help solve some of the challenges in the Finnish capital.

Helsinki is experiencing great change at the moment. In terms of social change, the population is increasing due to younger generations wanting an urban lifestyle and an increase in immigration.

The urban infrastructure is changing in the city. The harbor is no longer used in the same way and there is new construction planning there.
