Patrik Schumacher, Partner and Director at Zaha Hadid Architects meets with Brian Kilkelly, CEO of World Cities Network to consider how to the built environment can improve communication and the challenges planning law create whilst developing new urban spaces.

''All our production is communication dependent, all our problems are communication problems and the urban environments, such as London, are communication hubs. So for me, the built environment is a 360 multimode of communication which competes directly with these things'' explains Patrik whilst pointing to his smart phone in his hand.

As we become increasingly dependent on communication, Patrik tell us how the built environment can reflect this in its design and how planning law can restrict development in urban design.
